Long time no see!

Hello everyone! It has been quite a while since my last post so I thought I would update everyone!

I have started up my YouTube channel and a few videos are already up. I have had A LOT of support from my friends and family. It is going really well and I am very very happy with it.
If you want to check it out, you are welcome to!

School is very exciting! I am currently in my secound week of my GCSE's, I love it. I love the fact that the subjects I dislike are no longer on my timetable *jumps with joy for no more french*. I am absolutely loving Drama GCSE, it is a bit of hard work but it is great fun. My teacher is fab, I get along with my teacher so that's a good thing.
Art is also really fun. Art is my most challenging subject but my drawing is improving by quite a lot. The photography aspect was super fun, the curren project is Still Life and Nature. I am focusing on a type of flower called 'Lilies'.
These photos are from my Nikon D5100 and they are not very releveant to ym art project, more just for general photography!
I hope you like them!

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I will post soon! Byeeeee!

My excuse...

Hello, sorry for again not posting for a little while!
I have finished school for half term now so I should be posting more frequently! I start my GCSE courses on the 3rd of June so I am very very excited but nervous as well! I am hopefully going to meet new people in my year that I have literally never spoken to before, a possibility more friendships could be made!

I thought I would share some photography from my new Nikon D5100. I am really liking the 'Selective colour mode to make certain colours stand out. In pictures 2 and 3 you can see what 'Selective colour' mode does, the flower stand out because of the the  black and white background.

These are only a few but I haven't really been anyway exciting to take some good shots! Hope you like these 4 photos anyway!
Thanks, Stephen.

Nikon D5100

My new camera is fantastic! I love it already, the quality of pictures and videos is incredible! I will hopefully be using it along with my new hamar star 62 tripod to make a few YouTube videos!

The effects mode is very exciting, I like the selective mode and the high key/low key are useful for different situations.

Overall I am very pleased with it and will do an in depth review in a week or two when I can judge it better!

The day is getting closer and closer!

Tomorrow is the day, the day I welcome my new baby to my family. The Nikon D5100 will come out of the box and no longer cry to be used.

It has been in my dads office for over a week, I am so excited. I have never had my very own DSLR to call my own. I occasionally use my dads DSLr which is a fairly old Nikon.

I will do a review and write up a post as soon as I can. I don't think I will be able to focus tomorrow in school knowing I get my new camera tomorrow.

Who am I then?

After looking through my posts on this new blog, I realised the people who read this page do not really know who I am and what I am all about, so I thought I would share a few facts about me!

  1. My name is Stephen Tomlinson
  2. I am 14 years old
  3. I just chose my GCSE's. I am taking, Physics, Biology, Drama, German, Geography and Art. Oh yes and RS but that is compulsory at my school so I don't know if that counts.
  4. My favourite sport is tennis and I go regularly at my local club.
  5. I have a passion for Drama as well as Design and Photography. I love performing and being in shows.
  6. I don't have a clue about what I want to do with my life, I have so many ideas going through my head however my top three ideas are photographer, interior designer or actor funnily enough.
  7. I have a slight obsession with cities, especially New York.
  8. I love cheesy theatrical musicals like Hairspray, Lion King, The Sound of Music etc.
Hopefully these facts about me can give you a little more knowledge about myself. Now you know me just that little bit more!

YouTube channel

I have been thinking ever since Christmas last year about starting a YouTube channel. Last summer I did a few videos but took them down because I felt self conscious. However I have knocked those negative thoughts out of my head and focused on the positive ones.
I aim to start a channel about a bit of everything as soon as my new camera arrives next weekend! I already have a page in my notepad full of ideas. Ideas like

  • Would you rather?
  • Haul
  • Cotton Ball challenge
etc..

Three friends of mine have started YouTube channel recently so that has helped to motivate me! You are welcome to check them out!
My friend Molly: http://www.youtube.com/user/LeaveAMollyAtTheTone?feature=watch
My other friend Emma: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM7rbSWNan-1iby1gNb3WWw
And my other friend Shaun: http://www.youtube.com/user/Shaunyland
All of their videos are fantastic I think!

Hopefully I will have started my YouTube channel soon and have some videos for you all to watch soon!

Tripod shopping!

So yesterday I was in Curry's searching for tripods for my new camera Nikon D5100. I am getting the Nikon next weekend at my dad's house, it should have arrived from delivery by then. Anyway there was very little variety but I really needed to get one before my camera arrives so I can use it straight away.

I came across the Cam Link TP2-100 which was £19.99 in Curry's. Which reached a height of 163cm, within seconds I searched on Amazon the same tripod for comparison of price and it was £24 so I thought in my head 'Oooooo, I can get it cheaper now than online'.
However as I have said before my grandad is a enthusiastic photographer so of course I text him asking his opinion on it. He rang me up within about 4 minutes and 30 seconds stating that he could find a better tripod at a cheaper price with better ratings than the one in curry's.
He mentioned the Hama Star 62 and said it had much better ratings and it was slightly cheaper. I came to a decision and said I could wait a little bit and order the Hammer Star tripod online and so I did. It should arrive soon.
It was £18 off of amazon and it comes with a free carry case which is great! Here is the link if you are interested! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Star-Tripod-Carry-Case/dp/B0000WXD16
